EUMETSAT Datanauts Hackathon
Keeping a constant check on the health of the oceans, Earth observation satellites record global sea surface temperature, wave height, sea level rise, ocean winds, sea ice and even ocean colour. EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, is delivering huge quantities of marine data to users from the ocean-monitoring Sentinel-3 and Jason-2 and -3 satellites, and its fleet of weather satellites. With the support of engineers and scientists people from the local tech community were asked to come of with innovative solutions on how to use the weather data in unconventionally and new ways.

TEDxRheinMain
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
TEDxRheinMain brings the spirit of TED’s mission of ideas worth spreading to local communities in Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Mainz, Wiesbaden and Offenbach. Since 2015 I am the senior curator at TEDXRheinMain seeking to discover ideas and spark conversations in my own community.
