Social Design & Social Prototyping
Innovators have traditionally focused on enhancing the look and functionality of business and services. Recently, I begun using my innovation methods to tackle more complex problems, such as finding ways to enhance social interaction in local communities and neighbourhoods, helping social business to define their value proposition and bringing the lean startup approach to the NGO sector.
Everyone talks about Industrie 4.0, but just a few people talk about the implications of technology on our society and how new technologies can be used to tackle social problems. Founded in 2018 the NGO aims to support existing charitable projects with technical know-how and expertise, as well as develop new projects at the intersection of social and digital transformation.
How can you create shared values in your local community? Timebanks Frankfurt is an alternative currency where the unit of value is the person-hour. One person volunteers to work for an hour for another person; thus, they are credited with one hour, which they can redeem for an hour of service from another volunteer. The non-profit project is currently under development.
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
TEDxRheinMain brings the spirit of TED’s mission of ideas worth spreading to local communities in Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Mainz, Wiesbaden and Offenbach. Since 2015 I am the senior curator at TEDXRheinMain seeking to discover ideas and spark conversations in my own community.
